he Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, visited today the facilities of Open Cosmos in Barcelona to gain first-hand insight into the expansion of its technological infrastructure and the progress of its main space programs.
The Minister was welcomed by Rafel Jordà, Founder and CEO of Open Cosmos, who outlined the company’s strategic role within the national and European space ecosystem. During the meeting, the company detailed its capability to carry out complete space missions, from satellite design and manufacturing to integration, operation, and exploitation of the data obtained.
The visit included a tour of the expanded Clean Room, a 200 m² facility that will enable the company to multiply the number of satellites integrated simultaneously, enhance infrastructure for institutional and commercial missions, and attract international projects. The Open Cosmos technical team demonstrated assembly processes, functional testing, and environmental testing carried out prior to launch.
The Minister also attended a live demonstration of the mission control center and the DataCosmos platform, a tool designed to access, analyse, and exploit satellite data. During the demonstration, examples of applications for public policy were presented, including land management, emergency response, security, agriculture, and environmental monitoring.
